Iconic Adelaide buildings will light up in blue from tonight to honour the life of Brevet Sergeant Jason Doig who died whilst on duty at Senior last Thursday.

The tribute will see Angas Street’s South Australia Police Headquarters illuminated from 8pm to 12 midnight tonight through to Friday, complemented by other blue-lit landmarks, including Adelaide Oval.

Brevet Sergeant Doig was a well-known member of the South-East community and career policeman from Lucindale. He was fatally shot when responding to an incident at Senior, near Bordertown, on Thursday, 17 November.

His family have been overwhelmed by the outpouring of grief, and community support shown for their devastating loss.

They have accepted the State Government’s offer of a Police Funeral to commemorate Brevet Sergeant Doig’s service to the South Australian community, with the date yet to be set. Buildings will also be lit in blue the night before and of the funeral.

Sergeant Michael Hutchinson sustained non-life threatening gunshot wounds during the incident, and has since been discharged from hospital.

As tributes for the fallen officer continue, SA Police Legacy gratefully accepts donations in support of family and friends. Those wanting to make a donation may do so online.

Condolence booklets will soon be placed at various police stations for those wanting to pay further respects to Brevet Sergeant Doig and his family, as well as online on SA Police website –
